Dispute Resolution
What to Expect During Your First Meeting with a Lawyer?

During your first meeting with a lawyer, you will meet the Solicitor or team of Solicitors who will be assisting you with your matter, should you wish to proceed. The Solicitor will ask you for a background of your matter, including a history of the matter, timeline, the parties involved, and what you are seeking. They may also request a copy of all related documents.

Preliminary Opinion and Next Steps

During the first meeting with a lawyer, the Solicitor may provide you with a preliminary opinion of what the outcomes of your claim may be, and an outline of the steps that you need to undertake to receive that outcome.

Cost Disclosure and Formal Retainer

Following the initial meeting, you will receive a cost disclosure outlining the firm’s estimated costs. If you accept the retainer, the firm will be formally instructed to act for you in your matter.
